Empowering Small Business Owners: The Importance of Voting with Purpose

At my last networking event, the 706 Business Network had the honor of welcoming a congressional candidate as a guest. It was a powerful reminder of the vital role that voting plays, especially for new and small business owners. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to overlook the significance of our vote, but the truth is, the voting booth is the one place where our voice truly matters and can make a difference.

As a commercial realtor, it’s deeply important to me to see businesses grow and thrive. Ensuring that their voices are heard is a key part of that mission. I believe that business owners must understand the power they hold through their vote. It’s not just about choosing a candidate; it’s about selecting someone who aligns with your business needs, personal values, and future goals. That’s why I make it a priority to ensure that the members of our network are well-informed about the candidates and the issues that could impact their livelihoods.

Young voters, who are often new voters, face unique obstacles to voting that result in turnout rates historically 20 to 30 points below older voters. This discrepancy is even greater in midterms, state, and local elections. As a result, our democracy continuously fails to represent youth, generation after generation. However, as young voters have overcome these challenges and broken turnout records, as seen in 2018 and 2020, they’ve become the target of voter suppression efforts. From the rise of voter ID laws to intensified efforts to remove polling sites from college campuses, young people must navigate obstacles designed to keep them from making their voices heard.

It’s important to note that everything I do is an art—crafted with care and intention. This is not about promoting a Democrat or a Republican agenda. This is about advocating for small businesses and doing what’s best for them. The decisions we make as voters should be informed, nonpartisan, and focused on what will benefit our businesses and communities in the long run.

My goal is to ensure that business owners know the importance of voting and are equipped with the right tools to make educated decisions at the ballot box. By providing unbiased, accurate information, I aim to empower business owners and young voters alike to cast their votes confidently, knowing they are doing what’s best for their businesses, their futures, and the future of our democracy. After all, a well-informed vote is the foundation of a thriving business community.
